Love yoke neck sweaters but find stranded colourwork difficult? This is the answer! Slipped stitches. Only work with one colour at a time (leave the other colour at the start of the round, no carrying it!! yay!!) and create the effect by slipping stitches. A very easy technique that can create stunning effects. For best effects use two contrasting colours that don’t have colors in common.
CONSTRUCTION:
The sweater is knitted seamlessly from the top down. Short rows are added to shape the neckline and back. The yoke is a slipped stitch pattern not stranded colourwork. The sleeves and body are separated and worked in the round. The sleeves are designed to be either short or full length, but you can make your sleeves any length.
FINISHED BUST CIRCUMFERENCE:
34 (36, 38, 40, 42, 44) (46, 48, 50, 52, 54) (56, 58, 60, 62, 64) inches / 85 (90, 95, 100, 105, 110) (115, 120, 125, 130, 135) (140, 145, 150, 155, 160) cm.
These are measurements of the finished item, choose a size larger than your bust measurement if you want some ease. Further measurements are shown in the schematic on page 9.

Needles:
Main needle: 3.5 mm (US 4) needle(s) or size required to obtain gauge in stocking st. 32 inch / 80 cm or longer circular needle for body and magic looping sleeves.
Larger needle: 3.75 mm (US 5) or size required to obtain gauge in slip stitch pattern. 32 inch / 80 cm or longer circular needle for yoke.
Smaller needle: 3.25 mm (US 3) needles for neck or 0.25 - 0.5 mm smaller than your main needle. DPNs or small circular needles 16 inch / 40 cm for neck, 32 inch / 80 cm for hem and magic looping the cuffs.
Notions:
BOR stitch marker and 1 slipping stitch marker, 2 removable stitch markers, scrap yarn, tapestry needle.
GAUGE:
Stocking st: 24 sts and 32 rnds to 4 inches / 10 cm on main needles, after blocking.
Slip stitch pattern: 24 sts to 4 inches / 10 cm after blocking.
For row count it’s easier to measure pattern repeats due to the slipped sts. One repeat of rows 1-18 of the chart measures 1¾ inches / 4.5 cm. If your work measures more than this your yoke may come out too long.
Both the stockinette and slip stitch pattern must have 24 sts to 4 inches / 10cm or your yoke will be too loose.
