Flames is knitted in five dramatic, flame-y colors— I used handspun, mainly wool with some angora, a little metallics, in slightly varying worsted weights of 650 to 750 yards per pound. Any wools or wool blends with character will work.

One Flames hat version involves easy fairaisle/intarsia knitting with felted and/or other fabric appliqued on one section of the hat (patterns for these are included in a blow-up of the knitter’s graph). Or knit it all in medium difficult fairaisle/intarsia patterning. Notes on how to knit fairaisle/intarsia are included in the pattern.
