When knit of #10 crochet cotton on size 0 needles, the Diamond 47 series creates a miniature symbol, suitable for use as an ornament. Finished size is 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” (9 cm x 9 cm) measured as a square; 5” x 5” (12.5 cm x 12.5 cm) tip to tip, measured as a diamond. Stay posted for other gauge options!

Design is presented both in chart and written instruction format.

The Flaming Chalice represents Unitarian Universalism, a liberal and diverse religion that emphasizes compassion, respect, and the free and responsible search for truth and meaning. Unitarian Universalists do not follow any creed, but draw upon the wisdom of Jewish, Christian, and humanist spiritual traditions. The religion traces its roots to medieval Europe. The Flaming Chalice symbol evokes the chalices of oil burned on ancient Greek and Roman altars. It has many interpretations, including the light of truth and reason, the warmth of community, the flame of hope, and the divine spark within each of us.

The knitting itself is not complicated, but it is important to count and follow chart (or written instructions) accurately. The knitting is basic; the chart following is basic (for a given row, all stitches are on one chart); and the chart management is basic (entire design is on one chart).

Charts and written instructions were created using Stitchmastery software.
