Flaming Eyes
What’s hiding under your bed? Take a peek and you might find these flaming eyes looking back at you.
With the recommended needles and yarn, the hat is loose, stretchy and soft. If you want firmer structure or a smaller size, use smaller needles.
Contrast a dark solid yarn with a bright variegated yarn. I used white DROPS Karisma and dyed it with yellow, orange and red Dharma Trading Co. acid dyes. Also, I think it looks good with a fuzzy yarn, a bit of halo.
I didn’t use all of either skein of yarn. I used most of the black and about 1/3 of the dyed yarn.
The hat calls for a simplified version of TechKnitter’s flat crown, which I explain in the instructions. It also calls for catching long floats, which I also describe in the end notes. I’ve also included links to TechKnitter’s page if you’d like more information, and to a good video of how to catch floats when knitting with two different strands of yarn.
