Flaming Heart is originally designed for Dibadu Tiny Merino Kapriolen. When you buy one, make sure to get the right yarn quality, as Kapriolen come in other yarn weights as well, but the Flaming Heart will only work with Tiny Merino. I used 4 skeins for the body (1750y/1600m) and 240y/220m for the trim for a shawl with 23”/58.5cm depth and 66”/168cm width.

Of course, you can use other yarns but not other yarn weights. I knitted a second version using Schoppel Zauberball Herbstzeitlosen combined with Rauchzeichen. I used 6.35oz/180g - 788y/720m of Rauchzeichen and 6.9oz/195g - 853y/780m of Herbstzeitlosen for a shawl 24”/61cm deep and 62”/158cm wide.

You can also use Schoppel Lace Ball and knit with two strands at the same time to create a longer color gradient.

Although Flaming Heart is a modular knit but there is no seaming involved as you will join the modules as you go. This pattern includes short rows. You will find photo tutorials on this technique as well as the joining methods. If you prefer other short row methods they can be used as well.

All instructions are given in written and charted form along with graphics to explain the setup and ample photo tutorials on the necessary techniques.
