Flappy
This pattern creates a beanie with a snuggly fitting double brim and flappy ears to keep a baby’s head warm. It uses stranded knitting to add some interest to the bottom part of the hat without being overwhelming. It gives instructions on how to make the hat but doesn’t go into details on how to make the cords and pompom that are added as finishings.
Needles: US sizes 4 / 6; metric sizes 3.5 and 4mm; preferably short (interchangeable) needles & 16in cord
Gauge: 20st / 32 rows with bigger needles in stockinette stitch
Yarn: Cloudborn Fibers Superwash Merino Worsted Twist, 45/50/50/55g in main color (MC), 5g in contrast color 1 (CC1), and 5g in contrast color 2 or whatever fits the gauge. A wool (mix) yarn tends to hold the pattern better than cotton.
Sizes: 3 months (6 months, 9 months, 1 year). The fit is supposed to be snug.
