Flat Bob was designed after discussions in the For The Love of Bob Ravelry group. He was intended to travel around the world to be photographed with Ravelers in different locations.

Flat Bob is worked in two flat pieces (front and back) in intarsia colorwork. After the knitting is completed, the two pieces are sewn together with the wrong sides facing each other and with a layer of quilt batting in between.

Flat Bob’s shape echoes the shape of the image of Bob himself, and the contours are executed with increases and decreases worked one stitch in from the edges.

Bob’s mouth is worked in duplicate stitch after knitting is completed, and the brown in his eyes was emphasized by a layer of duplicate stitch on top of the colorwork.

I used colors that I had in my stash, so the colors above are only suggestions, and Flat Bob could certainly be worked smaller or larger by changing yarns and needle sizes.

Unfortunately, I did not record the gauge or the dimensions of the finished Flat Bob, nor did I pay attention to how much yarn I used. I am sure that I did not use a full ball of any of the 6 colors.

I used US 8 (5.0 mm) needles.
