Boxfish Handicraft Crochet Pattern of Zyndi the Banded Sole (PDF file / 10 Pages)
YES IT REALLY IS A FISH AND NOT AN OLD SHOW SOLE
Zyndi the Banded Sole is named for its long oval shape, reminiscent of a sole. Zyndi is not at all like other fish. She is a flatfish and has her two large goggle eyes on the right side of her body (eye side). By the way, this is how it is with all sole. With its left side (blind side) it lies on the bottom of the sea, preferably in the sand.
The basic coloration of the sole is gray brownish on the eye side. Their body is completely covered with dark cross bands. With the long, wide and blue fins around the body, sole can stir up the sand on the seabed and bury themselves in it. Finally, only the sole’s goggle eyes peek out. Thus, the sole is extremely difficult for predators to find. This good hiding place is not only suitable for protection, but also for hunting. Thus, the sole lurks on their favorite dish, small crabs that walk on the seabed. When a crab passes by, it happens very fast. Snap, the crab is gone. Fortunately, our Zyndi is harmless thanks to cotton yarn.
