Flat-ly
The ‘Flat-ly’ are Big coasters for people who like BIG mugs.
They are done with a mixture of double knitting (creating a 2 sided fabric) and double stranding (k/p2tog), to create a big flat area in the middle for your favorite cup to sit on.
Double stranding, apart for creating that flat surface, also creates texture (especially the purl side), and an extra color (color a, color b, and the mixture is the third color).
The pdf has 2 hand colored charts, with suggestions for light variations.
Yarn: 16 yards / 14 m per color per coaster. Medium weight cotton or other flat yarn is best, but anything from your yarn stash will work fine.
Finished size: 18 sts x 22 rows = 5.25” / 13 cm
Skill level: intermediate double knitter.
Time: 1-3 hours per coaster, depending on your focus and double knitting skills.
