Flatbread / Tortilla Server / Warmer
A Tortilla Server / Warmer is a standard table accessory for most Southwestern homes. However, they make beautiful serving dishes for rolls, biscuits, and breads as well. This pattern shares ideas to help you customize the end result so you get exactly what you use most.
The best part (in my humble opinion) is that, because it’s crochet, it can be rolled or folded and stored in a small area.
Tortillas come in 3 standard sizes. Small, which is primarily a corn tortilla. Medium, which is the basic flour tortilla. And Large, which is the large flour tortilla used most for enchiladas and burritos. The pattern explains how to make all 3. And if you’re going to use it for breads and rolls the pattern also explains how to increase the side depth.
Because this is a food serving item I strongly suggest using ONLY cotton or bamboo yarns. Animal fibers and acrylics are not recommended. Also, the entire pattern is worked with double thickness yarn. I use one skein at a time using the outside thread and the inside thread.
Although gauge is not important in this pattern, it is a good idea to keep your stitches even and as tight as possible (but still easy to work with).
