The pebbly aesthetic of Flatrock is a symphony of stitches. The front and back body flaps are rows and rows of fun tuck stitch knitting, and can be worn buttoned-up or open at the sides. Sleeves are knit bottom up in a 13-st x 4-row cable lace repeat. The body flaps and sleeves are join at the start of the yoke. The yoke is in the round starting with seed stitch and short rows across the back, transitioning to the colourwork band, then raglan shaping in the cable lace stitch. A cable plait finishes the neckline.

Yarn

Fleece & Harmony Eldon Lace (70% Canadian wool, 30% Canadian mohair and 457 metres / 500 yards per 80 grams) in main colour (MC) and eight contrast colours (CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, CC5, CC6, CC7, CC8). If using sample yarn, you will need 3 (3, 4, 4) (5, 5, 5) (6, 7, 7) full skeins of MC, and 1 mini skein each of contrast colours CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, CC5, CC6, CC7, CC8. This is hand-dyed yarn, please alternate the skeins of MC as you work for even colour distribution.

Needles & Notions

Gauge was achieved with the following needle sizes. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Size A: 2.25mm (US 1) 60cm (24”) for hem, button band, and buttonhole band edging, 80cm (32”) for seed stitch band and surface BO in yoke.

Size B: 2.5mm (US 1.5) 60cm (24”), 80cm (32”) for tuck stitch body,
lace cable sleeves and yoke, single colour rounds in stranded colourwork. DPNs or straights would be preferable for the cable edge of the collar.

Size C: 3mm (US 2.5) 80cm (32”) circulars for stranded colourwork.

You will also need:

10 (10, 10, 10) (10, 12, 12) (12, 12, 12) x 20mm (0.75”) buttons;
stitch holders, interchangeable cables, or scrap yarn to hold stitches;
tapestry or darning needle for weaving in ends;
stitch markers.
