Flèche is a cropped side buttoned cardigan featuring an asymmetrical shoulder design and an oak leaf and acorn motif running along its single sleeve.

The single sleeve/shoulder style was inspired by the underarm protectors worn by sport fencers: “flèche” means “arrow” in French and is the name of an explosive fencing attack.

CONSTRUCTION:
The sweater is knitted flat, seamlessly top-down with a raglan shaped shoulder and 1x1 ribbing at the neck, cuffs and hem. The pattern includes the option of a simple 1x1 ribbed fingerless mitt for the sleeveless arm.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Reading cable charts: only charts and no written instructions for the oak leaf and acorn motif is included.

Long-tail cast on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, working twist stitches, working buttonholes.

Some techniques, such as Tubular cast on and bind off, German short rows, are included in the pattern as photo tutorials. Alternatives to these methods are also suggested in pattern.
