This pattern calls for holding two fingering weight yarns together to get a DK weight yarn, because of the unique qualities that each of the two bases provide - however, a single DK strand works just fine as well. As written, the pattern combines the warmth and softness of Alpaca with the structure and stitch memory provided by a Merino/Nylon blend. Use two skeins of the same colorway for a harmonious blend, or 2 contrasting colors for fun visual interest.
