Soft flowing lines, floral shapes, and a bit of fleur de lis make up the colourwork of this relaxed beanie style hat.

The hat starts with a twisted rib brim, carries on with a few inches of stranded colourwork and then finishes off with a twisted rib crown.

The sample is made with merino 4 ply in slightly muted shades, which gives the colourwork a soft, dreamy effect. You can make the colourwork pop more with higher contrast yarn choices and/or by playing with which colour is dominant.

This is the perfect pattern for using up some of those sweater leftovers or oddments from your stash. You’ll need approximately 40g of the main colour and 15g of the contrast colour, (oh how I love using up those last bits of a favourite skein!).

The pattern is written with a relaxed beanie style fit but adjustments can be made by adding rows at the brim or before the crown or by increasing needle size.

This hat is great without a pom pom, but add one if that’s your heart’s desire!
