Flight of the Winter Bird
I designed this pair of gloves to coordinate with the awesomely scrumptious “Covey” cowl I designed for my daughter last year … and I had the pleasure this time of also designing a hand dyed yarn colorway to use for the gloves. I am calling it “Regina’s Red” because it is a deep, rich and vibrant slightly variegated red colorway similar to the rich red apples featured in the set design of Regina’s office in the hit television show, “Once Upon a Time”.
I used the slipped stitch pattern from the Covey cowl, but only in a single line going up the back of the hand, to signify the flight of the bird … a winter bird taking flight on a cold, cold day.
This is an elegant pair of fingerless gloves, long enough to also be arm warmers. They feature optional shaping to make them very fitted, increasing that element of elegance and charm. They also feature a picot bind off along each edge, including the thumb for an added touch of elegance.
The lovely, comfy fingerless glove arm warmers are elegant enough for an afternoon tea party when pulled all the way up to the elbows, or casual for a weekend stroll when worn slouched down closer to the wrists.
Lucky Violet Color Co. is the new yarn label my daughter and I created for our hand dyed yarns. We are both professional artists and designers with a passion for both color and sumptuous fibers. So, putting our mutual senses of aesthetics and design together to create wonderfully colorful, soft and squishy yarns for our knitting patterns is a natural, perfect fit.
Check out our colorways and yarn bases at www.LuckyVioletColorCo.com. We are in a highly creative mode most often, searching for great yarn bases and developing our own unique colorways, so check back often to see the latest selection.
