Travel knitting at its best: when you can cast on during take off, and bind off while landing! This is one of those projects that is just mindless enough to take while traveling and yet it’s interesting enough that you won’t be bored. I designed this mainly to use up my odds and ends of Malabrigo Lace, which it did well: most of the colors use fewer than 300 yards of laceweight held double (which is fewer than the comparable 150 yards of dk, for those of you who are counting at home!).

This shawl combines multidirectional knitting, short rows, and strategically placed increases for a roughly triangle-shaped finished item. The pattern is written for dk gauge, and I’ve used lace held double, as in some of my other patterns. As with my other patterns, you can choose to work this in however many colors that you like, though it’s written specifically for 6 colors.

GAUGE
21 sts x 40 rows = 4”/10cm in garter stitch on size #5/3.75mm needle (OR whichever size you need to achieve gauge), with lace held double for dk gauge.
