Flip Top Stay-On Booties
I have been fascinated by bootie construction since I learnt to knit as a child. After trying many different ways to knit booties I have devised my own, unique way! This novel construction features in the Flip Top Booties. They use a combination of knitting flat and in the round and result in an uninterrupted foot of tubular garter stitch. Knitting these booties is an interesting adventure. I hope you enjoy knitting them as much as I enjoyed designing them.
Flip Top Booties feature classic, plain garter stitch feet and a contrasting double-layer turn-back stocking stitch cuff. They are stylish but also practical, as the extra structure at the ankle ensures that the booties will stay on kicking little feet, without the use of uncomfortable ties.
The pattern includes three sizes: Newborn – 3 months, 3 - 6 months and 6 - 9 months. The pattern is suitable for sport weight or a light DK weight yarn and uses one 3.75mm circular needle (for magic loop) and one 3.25mm needle(s) (or the same sizes in dpns), as well as a wool darning needle.
The featured booties were knitted in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (55% wool, 33% acrylic, 12% cashmere, 125m/50g ball) in silver (colour 340012).
ERRATUM: If you purchased this pattern from LoveCrafts, please note that the stitches at the ankle need to be picked up on the LEFT side (not the right, as the pattern states).
