Flit and Flirt Shawl
Materials:
2 Skeins Juniper Moon Farn: Herriot Fine, 75% Alpaca, 25% Polyamide, 461 yds (420 m)/3.52 oz (100 g), Shown in Color – 2001 Travertine
Approximately 910 yards of Fingering Weight Yarn
32” US Size 4 (3.5 mm) Circular Knitting Needles
Small Darning Needle
Gauge:
28 stitches x 32 rows – 4” x 4” in Stockinette
Finished Size:
Approximately: 56” Long x 52” Wide x 72” Hypotenuse
Notes:
This pattern takes exactly two skeins of the yarn described. If you are worried about gauge, please make sure to have more than the stated yardage of yarn.
The shawl is triangular.
Stitch sequences outlined in (red) denote rows or segments of the chart that are repeated in the round. Stitch sequences outlined in green denote repeats that are simplified from the chart. Check the written instructions for the correct count.
When stitch counts change, it is noted (in blue italics).
There is a temptation to use stitch markers for repeat sections. I would advise against it.
Slipped stitches in the main body of the shawl should be slipped purl-wise with the yarn held toward the knitter.
With the right side facing, the left hand side of the shawl has an i-cord edging.
The border is knit at a 90 degree angle to the edge of the shawl back and forth along two edges. It is connected to the shawl using Purl-2-Together Through The Back Loop on the bottom edge, then using a variation of p2tog tbl on the final edge. The body of the shawl is knit first, and then the border is knit onto and around two sides of the shawl.
