The Floating On Water Scarf is a skinny scarf knitted flat in garter stitch in combination with the intarsia technique. It is divided into three sections. Two are worked using pattern charts, creating graphic motifs at the beginning and the end of the scarf. Between the intarsia sections is a length of colour-block stripes. A small I-cord edge is worked along both sides throughout as you knit for neat edges. This edging follows the colour patterning of the motifs and stripes.

NEEDLES
4.5mm (US 7) straight or circular needles, or size needed to obtain the correct tension (gauge), and 5.5mm (US 9) needles for casting on.

TENSION (GAUGE)
18 sts x 34 rows (17 garter ridges) to 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) in garter stitch, measured after washing and blocking.
