Floofy House Socks
As the days become cooler and the nights get longer, I always get the urge to pull out all of my blankets and snuggle in for the winter.
One thing I’ve been longing for has been some super warm and cosy socks. The kind of socks to pull on when you’re watching a movie or reading a good book.
I created the Floofy House Socks with all of these cosy feelings in mind. Knitted with a dk weight yarn and some fluffy mohair, they are the perfect thing for evenings in with your family and loved ones.
They feature a brand new (to me) heel that looks and behaves like a short row heel, but does not actually use a short row method. Instead you work decreases and then increases - it’s simple, quick and hugs the heel perfectly.
Sock Details
The socks are knitted using a dk weight yarn, held together with a mohair\silk lace weight yarn. They will work equally as well if you prefer to knit them without the mohair\silk. Just use a nice plump dk or worsted weight yarn.
The socks have a pretty lace panel running down both sides of the sock, giving just enough interest to make these zoom along and knit up in a flash.
They have a heel that I have called the Butterfly Heel, and my Umbrella Toe. The patterns contains a video tutorial showing you exactly how the heel is knitted.
Sizes
The pattern comes in 3 sizes - small (44 sts), medium (48 sts) and large (52 sts). The lace pattern is both written and charted. Instructions are written for the magic loop method, but double pointed needles can be used if you prefer.
Yarn
The pattern sample pair of socks are knitted using Sirdar Snuggly Cashmere Merino dk, held together with Drops Kid-Silk.
You will need 2 x 50g balls of the main colour (I used Blush), and 1 50g ball of the contrast (I used cream). You will need 1 x 25g ball of the Kid-Silk (I used Off White).
