Floral Reflections is created using the overlay mosaic crochet technique.

Inspired by the summer flowers in my garden, this unique pattern can be worn all year round, depending on the yarn and colours you choose. It is not just a scarf for winter.

You will need at least three colours to make the scarf, and for the reflection to show.

Two PDFs are available - one using US terms and one using UK terms.

The PDFs have one easy-to-read chart and corresponding written instructions.

If you would like to create a shorter or longer scarf, you can do so by adjusting the starting chain using the repeat calculations detailed within the pattern.

If you would like to create a thinner scarf, you can simply use a thinner yarn, such as 4ply, but increase your scarf length by adding repeats.

I created my scarf using Stylecraft Special DK and a 4mm hook, but you can use any yarn and corresponding hook you like – just remember that high-contrast colours work better for mosaic crochet.

If using Stylecraft Special DK, you will need approximately 300 grams in total.

  • 140g for Colour A (I used Teal)
  • 70g for Colour B (I used Pale Rose)
  • 70g for Colour C (I used Powder Pink)
  • 20g for additional fringing

Therefore you will need to purchase:

  • 2 Skeins for Colour A (322 yards per skein) = total used 450 yards
  • 1 Skein for Colour B (322 yards per skein) = total used 225 yards
  • 1 Skein for Colour C (322 yards per skein) = total used 225 yards

If adding lengths to thicken the fringe, you will need another 20 grams of your chosen colour – but there will be enough left over from your skeins to do this.

The scarf size will be approx. 65”x 10” (166cm x 24cm)
