Your size’s choice should be based on finished head measurements. Age label is just there to give a reference.
Pick the size that is 0.5-1’’ smaller than actual head measurement.

Material
• 100 (125, 150, 200, 225, 260) yards yards of fingering weight yarn or any other yarn that gives gauge
• 16’’ circular needle US # 2½ (3 mm) or any size required to obtain gauge
• Double pointed needles US #2½ (3 mm) or same size as circular needle used.
• Other : 3 stitch markers
