Floraluna Socks
The Floraluna Socks are a delightful project for any season! The mid-calf length is perfect for cooler weather, while the flowers give all the cheery sunshine vibes!
The pattern is written according to stitch count and in relation to stitch markers –this means you can use any tool/technique for making your socks that you prefer. Also note, that if you decide to use 9 inch circular needles, that you will need DPN’s for closing the toe.
Sizes are as follows: Small, Medium and Large
Small size is shown on model, who normally wears a ladies’ 6.5 - 7 US Shoe Size. For Medium US Shoe size 8 – 9, and Large for 10 - 11 (or men’s sizes)
Even though this sock has colorwork, there is still good stretch due to the striping and type of colorwork. All the colorwork has charts in the pattern for your convenience!
You will need TWO sizes of needles, one to meet gauge, and one size up from the gauge (for the colorwork).
Gauge: 19 sts by 21 rows in stockinette = 2 inch square
16 sts by 18 rows in stockinette = 4 cm square
This pattern features a German Short Row Heel, with links to video tutorials to help you with both Double Stitches and the process of short rows.
You will need 4 contrasting colors of sock yarn (I prefer Superwash Merino and Nylon for my socks!) This is a perfect way to use up scrap yarns or 20g mini skeins - you will not need more than 20g of each color, except for the Main Color (CA).
Yardage:
CA: 275 - 350 yds/ 251 - 32m (about 55 - 75 g)
CB: 65 - 75 yds/ 60 - 68m (about 14 - 17 g)
CC: 21 - 26 yds/ 19 - 24 m ( about 5 -7 g)
CD:65 - 75 yds/ 60 - 68m (about 14 - 17 g)
Note: Yardage varies due to whether you carried the yarn in the back, vs. choosing to cut the yarn. I chose to cut the yarn for each row color change!)
