Flourish
A scrumptiously simple hat worked up in stockinette stitch, and gathered elegantly with lace or ribbon. The perfect project for knitting between seasons, you can create a variety of looks depending on the ties used and whether you wear the gathers in the front, side, or back.
Wear it with a swingy, light cardigan, your favorite flower print dress, or jeans and a tee. Interesting, but not overly dramatic, it’s an excellent complement to upcoming fall trends.
Please be very careful in substituting yarns--anything other than the recommended yarn may not have the same amount of drape at the gauge listed.
A tutorial for the m1 technique used can be found here: http://www.knittinghelp.com/video/play/make-1-away-english
Also note that this hat is meant to be about twice the length you’d normally knit a beret to before being gathered.
Feel free to send me a pm if you have any questions or concerns!
Finally, lots of thanks to my wonderful test knitters! You ladies were superb.
