“Flourish” is an asymmetrical triangular shawl worked sideways and has a rounded tip right in the center.

The pattern can either be worked from written or charted instructions. Both are included in the pattern as well as suggestions on how to adapt the shawl size to your personal preferences.
Note: If you prefer a lighter fabric, you can also use a thinner yarn and adjust the needle size and the amount of repeats.

The main part of this shawl is an easy and memorizable repeat of knits, purls and simple cables. Combined together, they create a texture looking like the stems and leaves of the lace flowers.
There are two sections of lace flowers, which are created by a combination of lace and cables. A cable detail runs along the entire edge of the shawl and is also used to bind off the stitches at the end. Due to this very stretchy bind-off and lace flower motif, the final shape of the shawl is quite close to a symmetrical one.

The idea for this huge and warm shawl was born out of the annually recurring feeling of longing for spring. After a period of hibernation, the inner desire for new and flourishing life arises. This shawl keeps warm and cosy even in the last days of the long and cold winter. And at the same time it embodies the anticipation of the rebirth of nature.

MATERIALS
Yarn: Honer Och Eir Nutiden (held double): 350g
The sample is knitted in the colourway “Pling Pling” and weights 350g total. This colourway is a rather thick blend. For most colourways, you will use a maximum of 300g.
--> If you adapt the size of your Flourish Shawl, you will need more or less yarn according to that.

Needles: 6 mm / US 10 circular needles (or needles to achieve gauge)

Gauge: 15 sts x 20 rows / 4 x 4 inches in reverse stockinette with cable stems pattern; blocked and dried

Notions: 2 stitch markers, cable needle (optional), tapestry needle

Finished Measurements:

• Wingspan: 190 cm / 76 inches
• Cable edge: 148 cm / 59.25 inches
• Bind-off edge: 125 cm / 50 inches

Techniques used:

• knit, purl, sl1 wyif
• increases: M1L, M1R, yo
• decreases: k2tog, ssk, cdd
• cables: 1/2 LC, 1/2 RC, 1/2 LPC, 1/2 RPC

This sounds like quite alot of techniques, but the pattern is much easier to knit than expected (according to my testknitters).
