Flow Shawl
This is a triangular piece, knitted all-in-one sideways with a lace border that runs from the start and all the way to the other side, where a broad lace section finishes off the shawl. One of the sample versions were knitted in fingering weight, held together with kid silk yarn, which make a luxurious drapey light beautiful fabric. The other is a worsted version, same size but heavier, warm and wonderful to spread all over you.
Materials
Suggested yarn: 800 meters of sock weight yarn and the same amount in length of silk mohair yarn, for example Drops Kid silk lace or Mohair by Canard, Brushed Lace.
Or approximately 1200 meters of a worsted weight yarn, for example Malabrigo Rios.
Needles: Straight or Circular US8/ 5 mm-US 10/ 6 mm.
Finished measurements
Same size for shawl in fingering weight yarn and kid silk and the shawl in worsted weight yarn. Wingspan: 210 cm. Depth: 90 cm.
Gauge
For shawl in fingering weight yarn and kid silk 5 sts and 7 rows = 1 inch/2.5 cm and
for shawl in worsted weight 4 sts and 6 rows = 1 inch/2.5 cm. The worsted weight shawl is knitted in a looser gauge to make it a bit more drapey. The gauge is not crucial for shawls, its more important that you like the fabric, but for appreciation of size you might take it into consideration. Note that gauge was measured from unblocked fabric.
Pattern instructions and yardage for given measurements. There is, however, instructions in the pattern for making the shawl smaller, should you prefer a smaller size. There is no risk running out of yarn, the pattern is adjustable.
This pattern is fully test knitted.
