This pattern gives instructions for knitting spiral-based, rose-like flowers in two sizes. It requires 3mm needles, a wool sewing needle, and 5 ply yarn. The basic idea is that you knit a long strip which gets progressively more bendy and then roll it up to make a flared spiral.

Once made, these flowers can be sewn into a bouquet, or attached to other projects for decoration.

I made this pattern to use up some left-over pink 5 ply yarn I had which didn’t fit nicely into my normal 8 ply leftover blankets. My plan is to sew the flowers onto a dress I am making. I began by making the large flowers to attach around the neck and waist, but then realised I would still have some 5 ply yarn left over and may need to put some flowers around the hem as well. Since the large flowers would be too heavy for the hem of a dress and would probably droop downwards, I designed the small flowers to use on the hem instead.
