Flower Bag
This small bag is knitted loosely in the round, then felted in the washing machine. Texture is obtained by using Wensleydale wool which is sort of self boucleing when felted!! During the felting process the bag will shrink and become much sturdier. The exact size of the finished bag will depend on the wool and felting temperatures used.
The bag is decorated with a flower made from felted pieces made the same yarn, although a different contrast yarn would work well too.
It is ESSENTIAL that you use a yarn that is not a machine-washable or superwash variety. Ideally the yarn should be 100% pure wool. Typically you will require 150g of the main shade and 125g of the contrast. It is important that the felting characteristics of the two yarns are the same - eg two shades of the same breed, or two dyed versions of the same wool.
5.5 mm circular or double ended needles are needed for the main part of the bag, 5.5 mm straight needles for the motif and 4.5 mm double ended needles for the I-cord handles.
