I wanted to make a set of interlacing branches with my handspun Flower Fossil yarn. The scarf has been well-received here on Ravelry, so here’s my attempt to write up the pattern.

My hand-drawn diagram is the guide for lacing three strips together after knitting. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but if you lay it out flat it’s not difficult. I’m no math whiz, so I can only provide an ink drawing, not a computer graphic!

This is a three-dimensional scarf that works well with yarn that is bulky in gauge but not overly dense, so that the strands have drape and flexibility even after lacing them together.

Spin a yarn for this project, or if you like, spin three different yarns for each of the strands, and see how it looks! Go as crazy as you dare with the fringe, too - mine is way too tame.
