This is a gardener’s hat, offering good shade but perforated for ventilation. of course the holes make a perfect place to display fresh blooms -- just like the perforated stem holders called “frogs”.

The holes also make a convenient place to add ribbons that modify shape and fit, so that each hat can be customized to suit the creative fancy of the wearer. The version shown required just 8 hours to design and knit!

We’ve used Artfibers BISTRO as the yarn, a ribbon made from metallic nylon and super soft cotton velour. The cotton absorbs moisture while the nylon adds body and strength.
