Flower Garden
Flower Garden is an intarsia block. It can be used as a block for an afghan, as a pot holder, as a piece of art on your wall or as part of a table runner. If you expand the borders, you could even use it as a place mat. You could also knit blocks with different colors of flowers.
I was trying different knitting techniques in blocks and that is how Flower Garden came to be. I do not call myself an artist, but I looked at a picture, worked with some graph paper and Flower Garden was the result.
The plants and the flower are embroidered. I used stem stitch for the plants and stems. Multiple French knots were used to make the flower. These were all made with yarn.. You could also do the entire block in intarsia. The chart can help you with that. There is a link on my pattern to a you tube video about how to knit intarsia.
The block was worked on size 8 needles and bound off with size 9 needles. I used Red Heart Yarn, but you could use any worsted weight acrylic yarn.
