Just the thing for gathering blossoms in the spring or fall: a dainty pair of lacy mitts to keep your hands warm and your fingers unfettered. A simple-to-learn ribbed lace pattern keeps the fit snug, with clever decreases hidden between the ribs. The pretty lace continues right up the thumb gusset for an extra touch of fancy.

The pattern uses standard abbreviations for the simple lace pattern, and includes shaping. It is probably most suitable for someone with some lace knitting experience.

Either size can also be made in a shorter length, about 3.5” from cuff to base of thumb
Materials: fingering weight or lace weight yarn, about 300 (375) yards for long gloves, or 175 (220) yards for short gloves
-Short white gloves shown are knit in Jaggerspun Zephyr, just over half an ounce.
-Long red gloves are knit in Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine, less than one 3.5 ounce skein for either size
-Double pointed needles, size 1
-2 stitch markers
Gauge: 32 sts and 48 rounds = 4” in lace pat A (stretched)
Pattern notes: Whether you choose lace or fingering weight yarn, you will be following the same instructions and knitting to the same gauge. Therefore, the fingering weight will give a sturdy, everyday glove, and the lace weight will produce a frothy and lightweight special occasion glove.
