Flower Pocket Market Bag by Gari Lynn

Flower Pocket Market Bag

Discontinued. This digital pattern is no longer available online.

We love our local farmer’s market and the vendors love it when customers BYOB ( Bring your own bag). This bag folds into a flower pocket with a convenient hanging loop. You can string several bags together so you don’t forget them. It makes a great road trip pillow as well.
The flower pocket center creates a flat bottom, sturdy I cord handles are laced through the body of the bag and the I cord bind off contains an optional worked in elastic cord to keep the top from expanding too much when the bag is full.
The work begins in the center with a 6 sided garter stitch shape. Petals are knit on and edged with I cord at the same time. Working from the wrong side, the lace bag and then the pocket bag are picked up and worked. I cord handles are knit and woven through the lace and secured at the top and bottom. Finally, a loop for hanging is worked and sewn on.
