Flowing Hexagons
Thank you for your interest in my new design Flowing Hexagons!
I created this design because I wanted a new rug for my living room, you can either create a rug, blanket, table runner, wall hanging or place mat, it’s up to you!
The download includes the full written pattern, the full chart and instructions on the border if you choose to make it, all in separate PDFs.
The pattern repeat has 100 stitch repeat by 59 rows, so for my rug pictured I did 2 repeats wide by 2 repeats high and I used Aran yarn, 3 skeins of Red Heart ombre, Cocoa, 660g, 999m. Wendy with wool Aran, Black, 450g, 900m, total 1,899m. I used a 6.5 hook because the yarn is very thick but now I feel that I should’ve used the size hook stated to make the rug thicker and more dense. So if you were to use the same yarn or an Aran yarn with a size 5 hook, yours will be smaller. The size of my rug, width 167cm/66inches, height 87cm/43inches.
One repeat, including the extra stitches of 1 for the turning chain, 2 for the anchor stitches is 103 chains.
Two repeats including the extra stitches are 203 chains.
An overlay mosaic crochet design using US terminology. At the start and finish of every row will be a single crochet stitch. These are separate to the pattern, and you will go through both loops of these stitches at either end. I call these Anchor stitches, AS. Every single crochet is written as ‘s’ and every double crochet is written as ‘D’.
