About the design
The FAB cardigan is a loose-fitting raglan cardigan worked from the top down in two-color brioche stitch. Thanks to its raglan construction, it’s knitted in one piece; after you’ve worked the yoke with raglan increases, the sleeve stitches are placed on stitch holders to rest while the body is finished. The yoke and body are worked in two-color brioche stitch knit flat. After finishing the body, a double-knitted button band (with or without buttonholes) is worked along the front pieces and neckline. Lastly, the sleeve stitches are picked up again and worked straight in two-color brioche stitch in the round. Both body and sleeves are finished with a twisted rib edge.

A note about sizes
The FAB cardigan is designed to have a positive ease of approx. 20-30 cm for sizes A-E and 15-20 cm for sizes F-H, meaning that the circumference of the finished garment (after wash and blocking) should be 20-30 cm (A-E) or 15-20 cm (F-H) wider than your widest upper body measurement.

Level and techniques
The level of the FAB cardigan is intermediate, and the pattern is written only.

The pattern includes the following techniques:

  • Long tail cast-on (slingshot method)
  • Two-color brioche stitch knit flat
  • Two-color brioche stitch in the round
  • Brioche increases: kyok (knit yarn over knit), pyop (purl yarn over purl)
  • Left-leaning increase (m1L)
  • Twisted rib (k1tbl, p1tbl)
  • Backwards loop cast-on
  • Italian cast-on and Italian bind-off
  • Picking up stitches
  • Double-knitting
