Inspired by oil on water marbling techniques, this motif design work ups easily into a pretty scarf to brighten up cold, grey days as it keeps you warm.

It’s a joyful looking design for a bold accessory, although it could also look great with a more subtle colour scheme, e.g. using a gradient of light to dark shades of the same colour or as a joyfully multicolour scrap yarn project. The teardrop motif is easy and relaxing to work and can be made with any size or type of yarn as long as it is consistent throughout.

Sizes: One size but easy to make longer or shorter
Tension: A single teardrop shaped motif measures 20cm (8in) from point to opposite end and 15cm (6in) wide using a 3.75mm hook, or size needed to obtain correct tension. (note from Rnd 4-6 measurements vary according to how you shape the ruffled piece to lie flat)

Working method: The motifs are worked in the round, rotating the work rather than turning over, and changing colour with each round then assembled individually or by a join-as-you-go method.
