A cute sitting ornament that is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. Instructions include various options (tall hat, short hat, long wrap scarf, or fat button scarf).
A note about construction: To make Fluffy the cabled snowman, we will be knitting a wide tube-like sack in the round (starting at the bottom), with a decrease of stitches when we get to the head section. The nose, mittens, hat, and scarf are knit separately and seamed into place after the body is complete. After these details have been added, the body is then gently stuffed with polyfil stuffing, and the bottom cast-on hole is seamed shut. The eyes, chest buttons, and sticks are added afterwards.

Size: Instructions are for one size. The finished snowman sits about 9 inches tall (not including the extra height the tall hat will add).
Yarn: 300 yards of an off-white aran weight yarn for the body (pictured is Briggs and Little Heritage in Natural), various lengths and colours of aran or worsted weight yarn for the nose, toque, scarf, and mittens.
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) double pointed needles and US 7 (4.5mm) straight needles
Gauge: 16 sts and 18 rows = 4x4 inch square of the cable pattern in chart.
Other Materials: five 1/2 inch buttons (for his eyes and chest).
A few handfuls of polyfill stuffing for the Snowman’s head and body.
A small handful of decorative rocks for his bottom (helps him sit upright).
Two branched sticks (approx. 6-8 inches long each) for the snowman’s arms.
A tapestry needle for seaming the hat, scarf, nose in place.
A sharps needle for sewing the buttons onto the snowman.
