Questions about the pattern? Need help with the instructions? PM me here on Ravelry, or email me at woolybearhandknits@yahoo.com.
Watch out, Red Baron! Flying Ace Aviator Hat in three adult sizes, with double thick ear flaps, ties, and lined head band for extra warmth. You can add stripes, a graphed arrow design, or a pompom, too.
Child sizes available in the Flying Ace Aviator Hat for Kids pattern, also in my Rav store.
Errata:
For those of you who bought the very first printed patterns in shops (not the Ravelry pdf downloads - I fixed those), here is a change for the “Attach Ear Flaps” paragraph:
Attach ear flaps:
You should be at the center back, where the marker for the beginning of your round is.
Using MC, K(12, 12, 14). Hold one ear flap holder parallel to your working left needle, on the right side of the work (knit side facing you). Knit through one stitch from the ear flap and one live stitch from your working needle across the needle – (16, 20, 20) stitches. The ear flap stitches on the other holder should still be there – you’ll catch those stitches on the next round.
K(32, 32, 36). Attach other ear flap in the same manner. K(12, 12, 14). You should be back at the marker.
K(12, 12, 14). Now you’ll attach the other side of each ear flap, in the same manner as above, knitting through 1 st. from the ear flap holder, and one live stitch.
K(32, 32, 36). Attach other ear flap in the same manner. K(12, 12, 14).
Under arrow design: read graph right to left, as standard in graph reading, not left to right, as I wrote. Sorry.
