This little bird is knit flat and sewn together using a flat, or bickford seam. This is done by weaving the edges of the work together, knot to knot and loop to loop. Check out this website for very clear instructions,

It’s important to have a fairly tight gauge so that the polyester stuffing doesn’t show through.
