Go Honkers!

My Flying Geese Wrap incorporates an old quilt block motif in support of the Yuba City High School Honkers drill team. A portion of the proceeds from pattern purchases is donated to help provide uniforms and to allow the team to compete at a higher level.

The pattern provides written instructions. The sample is made in stripes of brown and gold (Yuba City HS school colors), but this would look great in all one color as well… or even three or more colors as stripes. The “flying geese” triangular motifs can also be rearranged with just a little creativity if you don’t like how I’ve laid them out.
I have added some bobbles for textural interest. You can replace the top and bottom clusters of each bobble with a single double crochet if you don’t care for them. You might even add additional bobbles if the pattern isn’t bobble-y enough for your taste.

Gauge isn’t super critical for this wrap. It’s a rectangle, so it’s difficult to mess up. The pattern is flexible enough that you could use other weights of yarn as long as you adjusted your hook size to compensate. The mesh portion of the pattern will always look better once the piece has been blocked.

Intended finished measurements are about 18 inches wide by about 72 inches long. You shouldn’t need more than 1500 yards of fingering weight yarn. Keep in mind that if you use a heavier weight yarn the finished object will be larger and require more yardage.
