Flying Saucer
From Friday 06/10/2023 until Monday 09/10/2023 the pattern will be 15% Off.
This shawl is for my seven-year-old daughter, Ariadne. She chose the colors and I was inspired by the name of one of the yarns used, Qing Fibres – Flying Saucer. The shape of the shawl looks like a flying saucer and the shawl ends with a lace flying saucers repeat.
Originally the design was for my daughter but then I thought lets go twinning and I made the red version for myself.
Finished measurements: 163 cm wingspan length. Measurements taken after blocking.
Yarn: Fingering & Lace weight

(68% Baby Alpaca, 12% Merinould, 16% Polyamid, 4% Polyester)
Color B – 9020 Rosa – 1 skein
Color A (fingering) is your main color and it is used in the main body of the shawl.
Color B (alpaca) is used for the final border and for a few stripes in the main body of the shawl.
Yardage: Approximately 295 m color A
140 m color B
Needles: US 8 / 5 mm circular
US 10 / 6 mm circular (for Bind Off)
Notions: 15 stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge: 16 sts & 40 rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch with color A (merino). Measurements taken after blocking.
For the red version I used
A: Life in the Long Grass Singles-Pollenate
B: La Bien Aimee Mohair Silk - RGO Tomato
I would recommend with this yarn combination to go one needle size up.
