Fogeater Hat
Fogeater is a serious hat for serious warmth. It has a double layer brim that folds up for a triple layer if you like, or it can flop over for a slouchy style. The fuzzy alpaca forms a luxurious, soft cocoon for your head.
This design is the fourth in a series with Ontario indie-dyers and features the sister team, Full Moon Fibres! “Fogeater” is the term for a full moon rising behind the fog.
This hat is constructed from the bottom to the crown. A provisional cast on is used and the brim is knit. It is then folded up with the purls facing outwards and the stitches are knit together. The body of the hat is knit and then simple decreases are made to shape the crown. No sewing and no purling!
