Foghar is the scottish gaelic word for autumn, which was the inspiration for this design. It uses small amounts of nine different colours with frequent colour changes throughout, and begins with a stretchy plain rib.

Yarn
Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift (2ply equivalent to a 4ply/fingering weight); 105m/25g ball. Small amounts of the following colours are required:

Cosmos
Ruby
Chestnut
Rosemary
Peach
Granite
Rye
Willow
Leather

Gauge
34sts and 34 rows to 10cm / 4in over colourwork pattern using 3.00mm needles, after blocking. Please check your tension carefully and adjust your needle size accordingly.

Size
One size, to fit a medium adult head circumference of 57cm / 22.5in with 5cm / 2in negative ease at the brim. Be aware that this hat is deliberately larger to create a slouchy fit. For a tighter hat, work to a smaller gauge.

Needles and notions
3.00mm x 40cm circular needle or DPNs
3.00mm DPNs for working hat crown
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
