Fold is the first of five mitten patterns where the inspiration comes from Icelandic cross-stitch patterns from 15th to 18th century.
The colors I use are mostly earth tones and are inspired from an old cross-stitch wall-hanging from my grandparents house.

Each mitten is decorated with three Latvian braids. There is always an option to skip one or more of the Latvian braids.

The size of the mittens is womens medium but making a smaller size can be done by using smaller needles for the body of the mitten part and for bigger size by using bigger needles.
The mittens are worked in the round from the bottom to top using 5 double pointed needles, followed by knitting the thumb using 4 double pointed needles.
Begin with needles US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and knit the cuff chart. Then change to needles US 2 (2.75 mm) and knit until you finish the chart.

For a pair of mittens you will need 1 skein of each color. (Kambgarn)

Fold er fyrsta vettlinga uppskriftin af fimm þar sem innblásturinn kemur frá íslenskum útsaums munstrum frá ca. 16. til 19. öld. Litirnir sem ég nota í þessari vettlinga línu eru að mestu jarðar tónar en þar studdist ég við liti í gömlu, útsaumuðu veggteppi sem hékk alltaf uppi á vegg hjá ömmu minni og afa.

Hver vettlingur er skreyttur með þremur lettneskum fléttum. Það er auðveldlega hægt að sleppa öllum fléttunum eða fækka þeim ef áhugi er fyrir hendi.
Í uppskriftina eru notaðir 5 prjónar nr. 2.5 mm og fimm prjónar nr. 2.75 mm. Stærðin er kvk stærð medium og auðvelt er að minnka vettlingana með því að nota minni prjóna og stækka þá með því að nota stærri prjóna.
Fyrir eitt par af vettlingum þarf eina dokku af Kambgarni af hvorum lit.
