Folia Loop is the second design in my La Folia Collection, which showcases the possibilities of a simple leafy lace stitch contrasting with garter stitch, and strong geometric shapes. Its diagonal panel of lace evokes a garden of growing vines.

A versatile accessory, Folia Loop can be worn draped elegantly around your neck or wrapped twice for warmth. You will need only one skein of fingering-weight yarn, and you can easily enlarge the cowl if you wish.

The cowl is knit flat and then grafted. Skills needed include provisional cast on, simple lace knitting, and working Kitchener stitch over both stockinette and garter stitch. Choose between fully written instructions or a combination of charted + written instructions.

Materials: 1 skein of Malabrigo Mechita (100% merino; 420yds/384m per 100g) in ‘Pearl’, or 380 yards / 348 metres of fingering-weight yarn. You will also need a stitch marker, scrap yarn for provisional cast on, and a needle for weaving in the ends.

Sizing: 39”/99cm circumference and 10”/25.4cm height, easily lengthened by working a different number of rows in the garter stitch section.
