Folioj
I invented this unique Brioche Short Row technique for Folioj. Now you can achieve the gorgeous 2-color squishy texture of Brioche with shapes!
Multi-Award winning design at the San Diego County Fair 2014. “First Place” and “Best Construction”. It’s taken me awhile to write this up! Thanks to all of you who have been patiently waiting…your wait is now over!
Leaves, Branches and Knots! Beautiful texture with two-color Brioche, make yours snugly, soft and warm with a scrumptious wool, or light and airy for accent. Whichever you decide, just remember, for best effect use two colors with a strong contrast!
Pattern is professionally formatted with 15 pages, and 15 photos. All instructions are fully written out, nothing is left to surmise. There is a full stitch glossary included so you don’t have to pull out your books looking for a definition.
Don’t confuse detail with difficulty. Full instructions are easier to follow than brief, cryptic ones.
I take pride in being very concise and precise in my pattern writing so nothing is left for you to ponder over. I feel the beginner knitter shouldn’t have to get lost with assumptions, things they’re not clear with; yet with the same thinking, the experienced knitter shouldn’t be bogged down with overkill in explanations. I don’t feel that’s fair to you, your job is to enjoy the knitting; my job is to allow that to happen, to make it easy and fun to knit this pattern. You get full, step-by-step instructions so you don’t have to wrack you brain trying to figure it out…that’s what you’re paying me to do!
While DK weight is called for, you can knit this shawl in any yarn you love--not worrying about meeting the pattern’s gauge--so long as your swatch has the drape and feel you desire.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Approximately 66” in length, on average. You can make yours any length you desire by continuing to add the center leaves, and finish with the end leaf. Suggested length is your actual height. I’m 5’ 6” tall, hence 66”
MATERIALS:
• Pink and Green version shown:
205 yards Madelinetosh Silk (pink) and 225 yards Madelinetosh Tosh DK (green), which is one skein each;
• Cream and Grey (has added side leaves):
320 yards each color any DK/light worsted.
• Size US 4 / 3.5 mm 24” circular needles, (Due to Brioche’s nature, I suggest starting with needles 2 sizes smaller than suggested on the yarn’s ball band).
• Stitch holder about 4” long.
• Stitch marker
• Crochet hook I / 5.5 mm (2 mm larger than needles used)
