Envious of all the gorgeous knit cable-work? Would you love to have a crochet pattern with the same intricacy? Look no further! Another in my cabled shawl series, this shawl takes the same basic template as the Simply Put and trades braids for the twists and a more traditional medallion cable for the spine.
Samples are 62” across the shoulders X 23” deep, but size is easily adjustable by doing fewer/more repeats of the cable pattern.
Gauge is not essential to this pattern.
Please be familiar with the ghost stitch technique for making crocheted cables-- you will not get the results pictured otherwise! http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/beautiful-cables-...
Samples shown in pattern use 2 skeins Malabrigo Sock Yarn (colorway Solaris)
or
2 skeins Loops and Threads Woolike (colorway Sage)
To do the simple edging @800-900 yards of fingering weight yarn is needed. To do the braided cable edging, @1000-1200 yards of fingering weight yarn is needed.
F/3.75mm hook, scissors, stitch marker, blunt tip needle for weaving in ends.
Pattern uses US terminology. This written pattern has detailed charts of the cable patterns and shows the first 35 rows to establish the cable lay-out and repeats, and also includes a photo-tutorial of how to do the join as you go edging.
