Footdee (pronounced “fittie”) was a small fishing village on the outskirts of Aberdeen on the Scottish coast of the North Sea. It was built with the characteristic local granite, but each house also has a brightly coloured fishing shed. These have been transformed over the years in creative ways into guest bedrooms, workshops, and art studios. This hat was designed with simple strength in mind to reflect the hard working people of this place, but it is also warm and full of texture to protect against the blistering wind.

Techniques used: Working in the round, knitting, purling, knitting one below, purling one below, decreasing.

Notions: One stitch marker, tapestry needle.
