This sweater began with a vision of a softly speckled fabric, created by using a strand of silk/mohair held together with a speckled yarn. I wanted it to have an overall slightly retro 60’s vibe, so I gave it a mock turtle neck, slightly cropped length and a body shape that tapers in slightly above the hips.
However, it can just as easily be knit in any yarn or combination of yarns that yields the equivalent to a dk weight. And given it is knit from the top down, the body shape and length can also easily be altered; the instructions include a straight body shape as well. If you prefer to lengthen the body, you may need more yarn. The length in the pattern is 14 inches / 36 cm from the underarm for all sizes.
The collar is folded over and stitched to the inside at the end. Short rows are worked at the top of the yoke for the neck shaping. Otherwise it is knit in the round, seamlessly.
Intended to fit with approximately 5 - 10 cm (2 - 4 inches) of positive ease at the bust. Shown in size S2 with 8 cm (3 inches) of positive ease.
