For Lou
This adorable hat was designed and created for a dear childhood family of friends. The original two hats were created for their granddaughters. We lost Lou, recently, and our community is devastated. Lou, and his wife Lynne, were and are staples in our community. I was working on this pdf and the pattern was being actively test knitted when I heard the news about Lou. This is my tribute to Lou Padilla. We all love you, Lou!
This hat is knitted in the round. First, on size 5’s and, then, on size 6’s. The hat and the bow are worked separately. The bow is attached after the hat is completed. The pattern offers (optional) beaded decreases for that extra flare. I have offered every size: newborn to adult. The gauge is 5.5 stitches per inch for the hat.
You will need:
Up to 200 yards of Yarnitoli DK (a master color and a contrasting color for the stripe and the bow)
Size 5 & size 6 16-inch circular needles (or magic loop is fine!)
Up to 154 size 6 or size 7 (with enlarged holes) glass beads (for optional beaded decreases)
A strandind needle (optional and for beads)
DPN’s (double-pointed needles) or magic loop is fine
Darning needle
